According to news feed, Patnitop Development Autherity has curved out a Flower Valley in it’s high altitude meadowland by planting thousands of seedings to create a riot of colors in it’s green landscape.
A senior official said, “We are curving out a flower valley in Meadowland of Patnitop to add another attraction to tourism destination.” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thakur Sher Sing said, ” Flowers are big business. Millions of them are sold, processed in to oil, dyes, edibles, beverages, medicines, cosmetics, incense sticks, powders and various other value added products. When they bloom, their ephemeral beauty attracts admirers.” In the initial phase of the project, more than 90,000 seedings of flowering plants, mostly Lavender have been planted over an areas of 12.50 acres. he also added.
According to officials Seventy thousand Lavenders procures from Jammu and Kashmir has been planted on various locations in September to October. Nearly 20,000 of marigold and many varieties of cosmos have also planted. Some of these seeding planted bloom in to flowers near the antient Mani Mahesh temple. The temple has supported the initiative by giving it’s lands.
According to officials, Full bloom is expected around March-April 2023 and Sanasar Lake annual Tulip Festival also held in same time when colorful Tulip Bulbs also blooming it’s best that time.
CEO added, ” A little patience and woods, meadows and mountain slopes will be dotted with blossoms and blooms. It will be a floral, rather a botanical spectacle, adding to the avenues of attraction for the tourists in the Patnitop Tourism Circuit. It will expand the itinareries, as well as the stay of the tourists.”
He added, ” Furthermore, it will provide plenty of opportunities for new, young and innovative entrepreneurs to start flower based initiatives and provide gainful employment to the locals. From flower farming to flower selling to flower processing local can venture in to the huge flower industry however they like.”
Explaining the calculation the official said,” 70,000 flowering plants produce aprox. 156 liters of oil per year, which is sold Rs 1500 per liter, generating an annual revenue of Rs 23,40,000. In addition these plants produce aprox. 4,50,000 seedings in a year, which is sold at a rate of Rs 5 per seeding, will bring a revenue of Rs 22,50,000. The annual revenue Rs 45,90,000 will be generated from oil extraction and selling seeds The project will come to fruition in at least 3 years. In 12 years the number will rise to Rs 5,50,80,000.”
Prakash Chand BDC Chairman said, ” Patnitop tourism circuit has always been a tourist favorite, but in real sense, it is now that is being explored, developed and promoted and the socio-economic benefits of tourism are starting to reach the local rural population.”
